Make Personal Growth a Group Project

Make Personal Growth a GroupProject

People often compliment one
another, saying “I love how you
are so optimistic (or happy, or
courageous),” and yet in the same
breath say “I could never be like
that.” We take away our own
power by focusing on the qualities
of others instead of focusing on
our own gifts.
Reflect on your own strengths
and weaknesses. Look at the
people in your life and look for
their strengths and weaknesses.
Watch how they incorporate their
strengths into their lives. See how
they deal with their weaknesses.
Some of them will be strong in
areas where you have difficulties,
and others will have weaknesses
where you feel capable. This gives
you opportunities to learn and
to teach, to communicate and to
connect.
“You always talk about having
difficulties keeping track of time,
but you’re never late for anything!
How do you do that?”
“You talk about your terrible
temper, but you’re the sweetest
girl I know. May I ask how you
manage your anger?”
“You always make room to help
me when I need it; how can I help
you?”
Help others grow and learn, and
seek out new ways to learn from

them.
